On the 27th- 29th October 2017 you can participate in the fourth edition of Denmark’s only Catch & Release sea trout fishing competition. Catch a big, beautiful sea trout, take a picture of it and release it back into the fjord – and bring a nice prize with you home instead!

Fjordlandet Open is moving to Holbæk
This year, we have exciting new changes to announce. Firstly, the participation fee has been reduced to DKK 250. Secondly, the competition has been renamed “Fjordlandet Open,” since the island of Orø will no longer act as the base of the competition. Instead we will settle down in the café “Værftscaféen” by the harbour of Holbæk, where our compulsory information meeting will take place Friday night, as well as Sunday, where we will hand out the prizes.
This year, there will be prizes for the 5 longest fish, as well as a prize for junior anglers (under the age of 18).
And what’s more, this year, all profits from the competition will go to the conservation of the fish habitats in the fjord – thus, by entering in the competition, you are supporting a continuing and thriving fish habitat in the fjordland.

A voluntary catch & release competition
As usual, the fishing competition is a voluntary catch & release competition (C&R). Therefore, you do not need to bring a fish to participate. All you must do is catch it, measure its length and take pictures. May the longest fish win! See all the rules and the full list of prizes.

Photo and film competition
And apart from the fishing competition, you can also join two other competitions, namely a photo competition and a film competition, where everyone can participate.
So catch a great moment with your camera or phone, during the weekend or start shooting a nice fishing film at the fjord. Then you might wind up with a generous prize of DKK 2,500. Read more about the photo competition and the film competition.

Our new base will be the “Værftscafé” in Holbæk
All participants must meet Friday evening at “Værftscaféen” on the harbour of Holbæk to collect measurement tools. Additionally, the hosts will go through the rules of the competition and Fishing Zealand’s fishing guide, Keld Juel Michaelsen, will talk about Autumn fishing in the fjord. See the program of the competition.
The actual fishing competition starts Saturday morning at 00.01 am and ends on Sunday at 4 pm, after which the closing ceremony will commence at 5pm in “Værftscaféen”.

See you for a weekend of world class fishing in the fjord!

Break a leg and good luck!
